LIVIO CORAIN, Assistant Professor, PhD in Applied Statistics.
Research contract holder in the Department of Management and Engineering at the University of Padova (09/2001 - 12/2003).
Assistant Professor in the SECS-S/01 - STATISTICS sector of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Padova since November 2007. Study and research visit (06-08/2006) at the Department of Stochastic Simulation, Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia, with the supervision of Prof. V.B. Melas.
Ordinary member of the Italian Society of Statistics since 2001.
Collaboration with the developing team of NPC Test software (http://www.gest.unipd.it/~salmaso) for multivariate and multistrata permutation tests.
Research work in recent years has mainly concerned nonparametric methods for multivariate hypothesis testing and multivariate ranking, statistical methods for quality and improvement of products and services, and applied statistics to engineering and biomedical studies.
He has published about fifty papers in international journals (indexed in Scopus, www.mendeley.com/profiles/livio-corain/) dealing with the topics described above, among them Statistics and Computing, Journal of Multivariate Analysis, Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Communications in Statistics. Has acted as scientific referee for several journals in the area of Statistics & Probability.

Research areas
• STATISTICA METODOLOGICA:
o Metodi non parametrici per la verifica di ipotesi, con particolare riferimento ai casi dei dati funzionali (confronto tra curve), dell’ANOVA multivia, dello SPLIT-PLOT design, dei confronti multipli, del modello lineare e non lineare.
o Metodi multivariati di ordinamento, in particolare: sviluppo di nuovi metodi di ordinamento di trattamenti/popolazioni multivariate e definizione di indicatori compositi multivariati.

• STATISTICA APPLICATA ALL’INGEGNERIA E ALLE SCIENZE:
o Metodi statistici per il miglioramento della qualità di prodotti/servizi, con particolare riferimento alle carte di controllo multivariate, alla Conjoint Analysis e alle metodologie del DoE per il supporto alla ricerca e sviluppo di nuovi prodotti e servizi.
o Big Data Analytics, in particolare costruzione di metodi e modelli statistici per
l’analisi predittiva ed esplicativa delle performance di mercato (marketing data) in funzione delle performance oggettive del prodotto (R&D data) e delle caratteristiche individuali dei consumatori (consumer data);
o l’analisi predittiva ed esplicativa degli esiti degli incontri sportivi degli sport professionistici di squadra in funzione delle performance individuali e collettive;
o l’analisi esplicativa e comparativa dell’anatomia macro e microscopica delle aree cerebrali in funzione di dati raccolti mediante tecniche di analisi delle immagini.
o Metodi statistici per le scienze bio-mediche, con particolare riferimento all’applicazione dei metodi non parametrici di permutazione negli studi sperimentali ed osservazionali di tipo bio-medico.
