•Assembly of an experimental apparatus for spectroscopic (Raman) characterization.
•Use of Raman/SERS for:
- measuring the SERS enhancement in plasmonic substrates, in view of their
application as sensors for chemical species.
- measuring the crystalline-to-amorphous carbon ratio in carbonaceous materials.
•Excited state properties (polarizability) of organic molecules.

Feb 2006 – Sep 2009 Post doc Department of Chemical Sciences, Padova (Italy)

•In 2007 I won a “British-Italian partnership programme for young researchers” funded
by the British Council and MIUR, whose title was: “Plasmonic nanostructures for
enhanced sensitivity in sensors and biosensors”.
•Determination of the size of the domains in polymer blends for organic photovoltaic.
devices, by means of SNOM and AFM.
•Determination of nonlinear optical properties of polydiacetylenes by means of Z-Scan.

Research areas
Currently, my research activities are focused on:

- Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS):
*Characterization of plasmonic materials in view of their application as sensors for
chemical species.
*Investigation of the structure-to-property relation between the morphology of a plasmonic
susbstrate and its far- or -near- field properties.

- Raman characterization of materials, like carbon-based electrodes for fuell cells.

- Excited state properties of organic molecules.

In the past years I also worked on:

- Investigation of the molecular dynamics with femrtosecond lasers.

- Modelling of the two-photon absorption properties of charge transfer systems.
