Proposals for thesis
Teacher is available as a supervisor for article-based and experimental graduate thesis
The topics for the article-based thesis concern the different aspects related to the use of medicinal plants.
Some examples:
The flu pandemic and the guidelines of phytotherapy research.
Benign prostatic hypertrophy: plant remedies.
Resurgen and similar products for veterinary use.
Tocotrienol in Friedich's ataxia.
Plant food supplements with lipid-lowering activity.
The "smartdrugs" phenomenon
Supplements for body weight control

The topics of the experimental theses, mainly concern the setting up of protocols for in vitro cultures and secondary metabolite analysis of medicinal plants

Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology (SSD BIO/15).
Academic qualifications:
1981 graduated at the University of Padova (Faculty of Pharmacy)
Working experiences:
- from 1983/84 to 1991/92 researcher in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Padova;
- since 1992 Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Botany, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Padova;
- in 1997 short visit, Department of Chemistry (Prof. Kutney) University of British Columbia – Vancouver Canada
- on January 2014: titled to Full Professor in Botany (05/A1) (National Scientific Abilitation)
- from 2007 to 2014 and from 2017 to now, bachelor coordinator in Applied Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Padova
- member of Società Italiana di Fitochimica (SIF) and Società Botanica Italiana (SBI). She has been board member of “Group of medicinal plants” of SBI and from 2016 of the scientific society SIF; member of the scientific committee of the journal L’Erborista.
- Component of Funded National Projects (ex 40%):

Her main scientific interests are in the field of medicinal plants with the following research lines:
- chemical characterization and identification of new natural sources of biologically active compounds
- localization of biologically active compounds by histochemical and micro-chemical techniques
- biosynthetic potentialities of cell cultures derived from medicinal plants and biotechnological applications thereof.
Organizing activity:
- two national Congress , one national SIF School and two workshops
- referee for Journal of international journals

Research areas
Plants both as source of important secondary metabolites useful for pharmaceutical purposes and as food ingredients with the following research lines:

- identification and chemical characterization of new natural source of biologically active compounds;
- development of new analysis approaches for natural products;

- use sustainable and conservation solutions: biosynthesis and accumulation of natural products in in vitro cell cultures, development of systems for in vitro secondary metabolites production, and micropropagation of medicinal and endangered plants;

- morphological, histochemical, ultrastructural and chemical characterization of plants with pharmaceutical and toxicological interest;

- characterization of enzymatic activity in plant cell culture to obtain valuable derivatives with industrial prospects;

- in vitro biocatalysis and enzyme production to develop processes in enabling green chemistries;
