- della fisica fondamentale (materia oscura, invarianza di Lorentz, nuove particelle) utilizzando raggi cosmici (solo tesi magistrali; possibilità di lavorare all'Osservatorio del Roque de Los Muchachos a La Palma)
- dell'opera di Galilei e della storia della fisica dei raggi cosmici (anche tesi triennali).

Curriculum Vitae
Full Professor of Experimental Physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy "Galileo Galilei" of the University of Padova and at the IST of the University of Lisboa (high energy astrophysics, particle physics, quantum mechanics).

Principal Investigator of astrophysical projects from ground (formerly project scientist of MAGIC) and on satellites (ASTROGAM). Member of INFN, INAF, SIF, Gruppo2003, LIP. Italian and Argentinian nationalities.


Previous Jobs (since 1993)

- Oct 2014/Sep 2017: Director of research at Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Padova
- II Semester 2011/12: Full professor (visiting) at the University of Tokyo
- Sep 2010/Jun 2011: Guest Researcher at Max-Planck Institute for Physics (Werner Heisenberg), Munich
- II Semester 2001/02: Visiting professor, University of Paris VI
- 1993/1999: Associate and then Staff Member (after 1995) at CERN, Geneva
- Other periods: University of Udine, associate (until 2004) and then full professor


Studies

- Classical high-school (Vicenza, 60/60). Graduated magna cum laude in Physics in Padova. Diploma of the Scuola Elettronica di Artiglieria, Roma (Lieutenant of the Italian army). Post-doctoral activity at CERN, Geneva.


Research Interests

- Fundamental physics. From 1983 to 1999, physics with particle accelerators; from 1999 to today, high energy astrophysics, in particular with cosmic gamma rays.


Main Scientific Awards

- 2016: Highly Cited Researcher, Thomson-Reuters/Clarivariate.
- 2011: Thomson-Reuters Award for belonging to the “top 1% researchers publishing in the field of Space Science over the [...] decade" 2002-2011.
- 2011: HEAD AAS Bruno Rossi Prize as a member of the GLAST-LAT Team.
- 2010: Highlight of the European Physical Society for the article ‘Nationalism and internationalism in science: the case of the discovery of cosmic rays’, with P. Carlson, Eur. Phys. J. H 36, 309
- 2008: NASA Group Achievement Award.


Main Honors

- Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana, motu proprio of the President of Republic.
