Curriculum Vitae
Enrico Scarso is Full Professor of Engineering Management at the Department of Management and Engineering of the University of Padova. Graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Padova, he received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial Innovation from the same University. Now he is giving the courses of Engineering and Business Economics, and of Marketing Engineering. He is the Chair of the Engineering and Management Degree Courses Council
His research interests are in the area of the economics and the management of technology. His original research activities have regarded the study of the innovation diffusion processes and the problems concerning the assessment and management of the new technologies. He has also investigated the problems concerning technology transfer within the local clusters of small and medium-sized companies. Currently, he has focused on Knowledge Management and specifically on the issues concerning the management of knowledge within single companies and business networks. Part of his studies has focused on the use of electronic communication technologies in the business field, examining how, to what extent and in what ways those technologies can promote efficient and effective knowledge management. His most recent studies analyze the benefits and obstacles to the introduction and use of Social Media in the business environment.
His interest in knowledge-related processes has led to focusing on the analysis the so-called knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) companies and on their role in the development processes of local economies.
He has published in Technovation, Int. Journal of Technology Management, Int. Journal of Electronic Commerce, Journal of Knowledge Management, Management Decision, Knowledge Management Research and Practice, and has presented various papers at international conferences. He has actively participated in important public (European Community, National Research Council, Scientific Research Ministry, Chamber of Commerce) and private (Trade Associations, Non-profit Organizations) research projects. He is member IAMOT (The International Association for the Management of Technology), and founder member of IAKM (The International Association for Knowledge Management).
