Proposals for thesis
Tesi per laurea magistrale (tesi computazionali di modellazione agli elementi finiti, anche di programmazione):
- studio della frattura nei materiali porosi con l'approccio phase-field;
- instabilità dei pendii; frane catastrofiche;
- comportamento sismico di depositi profondi di scorie radioattive con un modello per solidi porosi multifase elastoplastici in condizioni non isoterme;
- localizzazione delle deformazioni nei geomateriali (studio di meccanismi di collasso locale e globale);
- modellazione costitutiva termo-elasto-plastica;
- dinamica dei materiali porosi multifase in condizioni non-isoterme;
- studio di problemi non lineari per geometria e materiale, in particolare in materiali porosi multifase.

Curriculum Vitae
Lorenzo Sanavia is Associate Professor of Structural Mechanics and Computational Mechanics at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering of the University of Padova (Italy). He obtained his MSc in Civil Engineering (July 1993) and the PhD in Computational Mechanics at the University of Bologna (September 1997). He received the national scientific qualification to the position of full professor (April 2018). He is author of more than 120 scientific publications including 25 referred journal papers in the field of computational mechanics.
Research interests: mathematical modelling of non-linear multiphase porous geomaterials, constitutive modelling of variably saturated materials in non-isothermal conditions, numerical methods in engineering, computational geo-environmental mechanics, with emphasis to strain localisation and water cavitation in multiphase porous materials, dynamics of non-isothermal multiphase geomaterials, numerical treatment of the post-bifurcation behaviour of geomaterials, analytical multiscale approach, hydraulic fracture with phase-field approach. The developed models have applied successfully to: seismic analysis of earth dams, simulation of soil collapse and onset of landslides, thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviour of lagoon marshes, catastrophic landslides and deep nuclear waste disposal, thermo-hydro-mechanical consolidation processes in soils.
