Curriculum Vitae
Stefania Bruschi, born in Turin on 20th December 1973, graduated cum laude in Materials Engineering at University of Ferrara in July 1998.
She got the PhD degree in Manufacturing Engineering, with the thesis “A new approach in testing and modelling the material response in hot forging operations”.
From January 2004 to August 2006 she was assistant professor at DIMEG, University of Padova.
From September 1st, 2006 to September 30th, 2011, she was associate professor at DIMS, University of Trento. From October 1st, 2011, she is full professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Padova, and currently Deputy Director of the Department.
She takes part to national and international research associations, such as ESAFORM (European Scientific Association for Material Forming) and AITeM (Italian Association for Manufacturing Technology).
She is fellow member of CIRP (The International Academy for Production Engineering).
She belongs to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Materials Processing Technology.
She is author of more than 200 international publications Scopus-Indexed and more than 100 in refereed journals. She is referee for the most important journals of the sector, and she belongs to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Materials Processing Technology.
Her scientific activity deals with the following subjects:
- development of new testing procedures for determining material rheological behaviour and workability characteristics under hot and cold forming conditions
- analytical and artificial intelligence-based (neural networks) modelling of material response under hot forming conditions in terms of flow strength, microstructural evolution, and damaging till fracture
- modelling of geometrical distortions and microstructural evolution of carbon steel and advanced superalloys-made components during cooling after hot forming operations
- development of new testing procedures to evaluate material formability during sheet metal forming processes at elevated temperatures through traditional approaches based on Forming Limit Curves and new approaches based on the theory of Continuum Damage Mechanics
- development of combined numerical and experimental techniques for the identification of friction and heat transfer coefficients during hot forming operations
- development of numerical procedures for the identification of metallic material rheological parameters during machining operations
- development of new approaches in evaluating the integrity of Additive Manufactured metal alloy surfaces machined under various lubricating/cooling conditions both at conventional and micro-level and development of correlation with the machined part service life.
- development of new approaches in developing and implementing environmental friendly lubricating/cooling strategies in machining in order to increase the tool life and machined surface integrity.
The research activities have been carried out and are currently carrying out in the framework of research projects funded at national and international level, both academic and industrial.
