Curriculum Vitae
Paolo Fabbri is Associate Professor of Hydrogeology and he has the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor. He is coordinator of the "Geothermal System Hydrostructures (GSH)" Research group at the Interdepartmental Centre "Giorgio Levi Cases" for Energy Economics and Technology, Padova University. He is elected member of the Italian chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (I.A.H.) and member of Mineral and Thermal Water Commission (MTWC) of the I.A.H.
He received in 1985 his Graduation in Geological Sciences (Hydrogeology) at the University of Padova and he was Army Officer, 4th Alpine Army Corps, during 1985-1986. In the period 1986-1993 he was Research Fellow at the Department of Geology, Paleontology and Geophysics of the University of Padova, in a project funded by the Veneto Region, from 1993 to 2006 he was Assistant Professor of hydrogeology at the same University. From 2009 to 2012 he was Associate Researcher at the Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources, (IGG-CNR). In 1994 he was a fellow at the Laboratorie d'Hydrogeologie, Université de Montpellier II (F). His research interests are: hydrogeological parameterization of fissured and porous aquifers; application of geostatistical methodologies to the principal geological and hydrogeological variables (variographic analysis, prevision and simulation techniques). He is or has been responsible of hydrogeological research projects and agreements. He is Associate Editor of Italian Journal of Groundwater and He has been reviewer of: Science of the Total Environment; Environmental Earth Sciences; Rendiconti dei Lincei - Scienze Fisiche e Naturali; Geothermics, Hydrological Sciences Journal, Environmental Modelling & Software, Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Bollettino di Geofisica Teorica ed Applicata, Aqua Mundi and the Proceedings of the hydrogeology section of 33IGC, Oslo 2008. He is member of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (I.A.M.G.), of the A.I.G.A.A. and the National Association of Geologists. He is author of more than 70 scientific papers and received the "Secondo Franchi" Award from Italian Geological Society for the 2014 best paper of Italian Journal of Geosciences. He has been supervisor of more than 110 (graduate/undergraduate) and 5 PhD thesis.

Research areas
i) Application of geostatistical methods in hydrogeology
Predictions and simulations both of continuous (e.g. transmissivity, concentrations
of pollutants, etc.) and categorical (e.g. lithologies) variables.
These studies concern spatial distribution of hydrogeological variables starting
from a detailed variographic/transiographic analysis. They also concern
methodologies of previsions and simulations, kriging and no kriging based on.
ii) Hydrogeology of geothermal areas
Hydrogeological investigations on thermal hydrostructures. Regime analysis
to define potentiometric trends and the relationship among the different
thermal aquifer layers. Conceptual and numerical modelling of geothermal
iii) Hydrogeological parameterization of aquifers
Execution and interpretation of aquifer and well tests to define aquifer permeability
and storativity. The study is focused on the Venetian plain and based on characterization of aquifers and on definition of empirical relationships between Specific Capacity and Transmissivity.
