Curriculum Vitae
Current position:
Full Professor in Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Padua, Italy (from 2018);
first level manager at the Microbiology and Virology Unit of Azienda Ospedaliera of Padua (from 2006).

Professional experience:
Associate Professor, University of Padua, Italy (2013-2018);
Assistant Professor, University of Padua, Italy (2006-2013);
Post-Doctoral Fellow, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, USA (1999-2001); Post-doctoral fellow (2001-2003), Research grant, University of Padua (2004-2006).

Education:
1997: Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (full marks with honours);
Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1998-2000),
Ph.D. in Virology, University of Padua (2002-2004);

Research activity:
80 papers in extenso in peer review journal and about 90 abstracts at International and National meetings.

Teaching
Professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at the Medicine and Surgery BS/MS Course, of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and the Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies MS Course, University of Padua.
Research and thesis advisor of post-doctoral fellows, Ph.D. students and BSc and MSc students.

Membership:
European Society for Virology (EUSV), Italian Society for Virology (SIV).
Member of the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports.

- Identification of unusual nucleic acid conformations in virus genomes and cancer-related genes as new targets for drug development.
- Development of antiviral and anticancer compounds that act through recognition of unusual nucleic acid conformations.
- Investigation of the molecular bases behind the onset of neurodegenerative diseases.
