Esempi di Tesi di laurea magistrale recentemente completate:

• Sviluppo di un sistema di misura per il monitoraggio in linea del processo di stiro-piegatura di profili tubolari (progetto interno)
• Studio di tecniche innovative per l'analisi di difetti superficiali tramite sistemi ottici su componenti ottenuti per pressocolata (in collaborazione con Alupress AG, Bressanone)
• Studio delle proprietà di adesione e resistenza all'usura di rivestimenti PVD depositati su substrati in acciaio (in collaborazione con MARPOSS SpA, Bologna)
• Definizione e sperimentazione di una nuova specifica tecnica per sensori ottici di distanza per macchine di misura a coordinate (presso Carl Zeiss AG, Oberkochen, Germania)
• La formazione metrologica per il Digital Manufacturing: analisi e riprogettazione di sistemi per l’apprendimento permanente nel settore automotive (progetto europeo COMET 4.0)

RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Research activity is in the area of Manufacturing Metrology, with focus on advanced coordinate metrology and surface characterisation at nanoscale. Research topics include optical metrology, computed tomography, in-process metrology, calibration and verification procedures for coordinate measuring systems, metrology of freeform surfaces and complex parts, nanometrology of surfaces and microparts, economics of metrological activities.

RESEARCH GROUP AND FACILITIES
Enrico Savio is part of the Precision Manufacturing Engineering research group (www.labtesi.dii.unipd.it) at the University of Padua, ranked as first large university at national level according to VQR 2004-10 and 2011-14. The Group’s scientific staff consists of about thirty researchers, including professors, research assistants and Ph.D. students.
Within the group he is responsible of the Laboratory of Industrial and Geometrical Metrology, which has a world-class reputation for research in advanced coordinate metrology, including computed tomography and metrology of freeform shapes and additive manufactured parts. The metrology lab equipment includes: metrological micro-CT system Nikon MCT225, multisensor CMM Werth Video Check IP 400, CMM ZEISS Prismo VAST 7, WLI/confocal 3D profilometer Sensofar Plu Neox, laser scanners, Digital roughness testers, SEM with Electron Back Scattering Diffraction (EBSD) and EDX detectors.
Additive Manufacturing systems include: Manudirect MSL50 (Direct Laser Metal Deposition), Nanoscribe Photonic Professional (3D laser lithography), Stratasys Dimension 1200es (Fused Deposition Modeling), Objet30 Prime (PolyJet Technology).
Other relevant equipment: ultraprecision 5-axis CNC machining centre KUGLER Micro Master; material testing from room to melt T, including hot tensile, compression, hardness, torsion; SEM with EBSD and EDX detectors, with heating stage up to 1300°C; testing systems for rheology, workability, tribology.

Research outcomes are documented in more that 130 scientific papers on international journals and proceedings of international conference.
