Proposals for thesis
- Analysis and study for optimal control of flame (Experimental Thesis / at SIT Group (Padova))

The thesis project aims to develop a model for the study of the flame of the burners for boilers. The different composition of fuel used as combustible affect combustion and it varies both the calorific value and emisisons. The analytical techniques used to construct this model will be the study of optical absorption spectroscopy, flame emission using as source a LED UV at 310 nm and analysis using Schlieren method to characterize the temperature and flame shape. In particular, spectroscopic analysis will aim to highlight the presence of molecules OH, NOx and CO. The data thus obtained will then be interfaced with the Ionic current measurements acquired by inserting a Langmuir probe inside the flame.
The candidate will work within the company SIT SpA flanked by a tutor, in viale dell 'industria 31 in Padua and could use at any time of the experience of experts in addition to take advantage, if necessary, of the facilities therein. This work will be very useful to generate a guide map that will allows to optimize the performances of the burners in relation with fuel and interpretate from a physical point of view the electrical specifications measured. In addition, the opportunity to interface with a different reality with respect from the academic one will allow the candidate to enrich his/her experience by providing a broader overview on what is increasingly becoming a future reality: the tight link between university and industry.
