Curriculum Vitae
Marco Santagiustina was born in Venice (Italy) in 1966; he obtained the Italian university degree (Laurea), with honours, in Electronic Engineering in 1992 and the Ph.D in Telecommunication Engineering in 1996, both at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science of the University of Padua (Italy). During the Ph.D course he was Fulbright and Gini Foundation (Padua) Grant holder visiting the Optical Sciences Center of the University of Arizona (Tucson, USA). From 1995 to 1996 he was Visiting Research Lecturer at the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, USA) and Visiting Scholar at Brown University, Providence (Rhode Island, USA). From 1997 to 1999 he was a post-doctoral researcher at IMEDEA (University of the Balearic Islands) in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), under the TMR program QSTRUCT funded by the European Commission. From 1999 he joined the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua (Italy) (as Assistant, from Aggregate 2005 and from 2011 Associate Professor). He is author or co-author of about 120 among articles and memories published in international scientific reviews, books and proceedings of international conferences, with about 900 citations and h-index 18. He coordinated the European project GOSPEL (ICT-FP7-219299), an International bilateral project (Italy-Croatia), the Padua Unit in 2 National research projects (PRIN20050910255,PRIN 20102KAZKN_005) and 3 research projects funded by the University of Padua. He collaborated in national and international research projects and has also been consultant for SAIFO Srl, Marconi Telecommunications and TelecomItalia Labs.
He reviews for international journals like IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology, Optics Letters, Optics Express, Optics Communications, Physical Review Letters, Physical Review A, E and the European Journal of Optics. He was TPC member at ECOC 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Research areas
Photonics, optical communications, photonic nonlinear effects and devices, polarization mode dispersion in optical fibers, chaotic signal transmission, slow light and its applications.
