Syllabus
Prerequisites: No prerequisite. Even if you start from an absolute beginner level, the lessons will be held in Spanish.
Target skills and knowledge: The objectives are two: the first, of a theoretical nature, it will be to provide students with a thorough knowledge of the Spanish language according to the specific degree course; the other, practical, will be to provide students with the language skills needed for effective use of the Spanish language as a vehicle of communication, that is, provide them with the capacity for oral and written expression and comprehension, translation skills and train them in the knowledge of the social norms that govern the basic linguistic uses.
Examination methods: IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE EXAMS OF THIS SUBJECT, for both attending and non-attending students (we recommend a CAREFUL reading):

a) There will be three EXAMINATION sessions for ALL students: summer, autumn and winter session. The first session for the 2019-2020 program will be June-July 2020.

b) Exam registration via UniWeb is REQUIRED, RESPECTING the closing date of the registration lists: lists will be open a few weeks before exams. If the student decides to not take the exam, it is strongly requested to unsubscribe from the registered list.

c) The three sessions have two calls: with a distance between them 15 days. The student can choose between the first or second call or choose both of them in case the student has not passed the first call or wants to improve the mark; in the latter case, the previous exam result is automatically canceled.

d) The exam consists of two parts, one written and the other oral. The written test aims to verify the achievement of level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(2001) through a series of exercises of different types (multiple choice, completion, translation of microdialogues, correction of errors, guided dialogues and written production); a written test model will be uploaded and made available to students on the moodle page of the course. The oral exam consists in the revision of the written test and in a short interview concerning one of the communication situations treated during the course.

e) The test shall be satisfactory if it is evaluated with results equal to or greater than 18/30; if the test has failed, it should be done again in the following call or session.

f) The students who intend to refuse the result of the exam will have to express themselves using the appropriate online procedure within the terms of 7 days, starting from the publication of the examination. If the student does not express itself within this period, the exam will be registered.

g) THE PROGRAM AND TESTING ARE THE SAME FOR ALL LEVELS AND FOR ATTENDING AND NOT-ATTENDING STUDENTS.
Assessment criteria: See "Modalità di esame".
Course unit contents: A theoretical description of grammar and language use: spelling and pronunciation, morphological categories with meaning (noun, adjective, verb and adverb) and categories with morphological function (determiners, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions) will be analyzed. The exercises will be held in the part of the course dedicated to training language (A1 Level (Beginners), A2 Level and A2 + Level) in order to practice the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in an integrated way. They also will address the elements of Spanish and Hispanic-American civilization.

The final level of the course: B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (2001).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course consists of a theoretical part, called OFFICIAL COURSE, 42 hours with the teacher Begoña Arbulu and a practical part, called LANGUAGE TRAINING, divided into three levels (A1 Level (Beginners), A2 Level and A2 + Level) and organized by the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA).

2) The course attendance is not mandatory because there are cases of overlapping with other subjects, but it is especially recommended for absolute beginners students.

3) THE PROGRAM AND TESTING ARE THE SAME FOR ATTENDING AND NOT-ATTENDING STUDENTS AND FOR ALL LEVELS. At the end of each week you will find a file updated on Moodle Platform with the topics discussed during lessons with respective sections and pages.

LANGUAGE TRAINING:
1) The course is divided into three levels: Level A1 (Beginners), level A2 and level A2 +

A1 level (Beginner):
Beginners or students who have studied Spanish for a period less than three years will be included in an annual course basic level of 80 hours.


A2 Level:
Students who have studied Spanish for a period longer than three years and less than five will be entered into a A2 level annual course of 80 hours.

Level A2 +
Students who have studied Spanish for a period of 5 years or more will be entered into an annual course level A2 + of 80 hours.


2) There will be no preliminary placement test.
