Prerequisites:
Basic background in chemistry |
Target skills and knowledge:
This course surveys the fundamental aspects of the chemistry of organic compounds with an emphasis on electronic structure, conformation, stereochemistry and acid-base properties. It introduces concepts and models that guide students in building intuition about the stability and reactivity of organic compounds. The course explores the chemical properties and reactions of the major classes of organic compounds and it introduces students to the chemistry of the biological molecules. |
