Target skills and knowledge: At the end of the classes, students should have learn:
1) main classical and modern psychoanalytic models, with specific attention to those related to childhood
2) strenghts and weaknesses of each model
3) specific verbiage to describe each model
4) applications of each model in the comprehension of the child
Examination methods: The exam will include 4/5 written open-ended questions, with 10 lines space to organize the answer
Assessment criteria: Ability :
to integrate different theoretical models;
to be critic in relation to different theories strenghts and weaknesses;
to express personal comments
Course unit contents: 1) Sigmund Freud: inconscious; freudian metapsychology; elements of psychoanalisis model; Conflicts, defensive mechanisms; narcissism, Eros and Thanatos
2) Ego Psychology: A.Freud
3) Melanie Klein
4) Indipendent: Winnicott
5) Self Psychology: Kohut
6) Bion
7) Infant research
8) Mahler, Spitz, Bowlby
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Classes will include frontal lessons about the main authors. A docu-movie about Freud will be presented to integrate the theoretical lecture. Lessons will be presented in power point. Attendance will not be mandatory.
Additional notes about suggested reading: Student need to study two books.
