Prerequisites: In order to allow students to better follow the course it is necessary that they own the basic concepts in physics, chemistry and math required from admission tests. Furthermore, a good knowledge of cell biology, genetics and human physiology at level of scientific high schools is required.
Target skills and knowledge: The first part of the course will provide the basics on brain anatomy, nervous system physiology and endocrine system. Starting from this, the second part of the course will focus on the biological bases of mental processes, psychiatric disorders and the development of cognition.
Examination methods: The assessment consists of 30 multiple choice questions (4 possible answers, only one correct) In addition, there are 6 questions/pictures on neuroanatomy for overall 36 points (those who surpass 30, achieve also the Laude) Every 4 wrong answers 1 point is subtracted. Exam duration is 30 min.
Assessment criteria: The assessment of the students is based on their comprehension of the taught issues, on their ability to achieve the main concepts and methodologies of the course and on the capacity to apply them with autonomy and awareness.

In addition, the integrative material is available in the Metelli Library of psychology (photocopy room) and on Moodle.
