Syllabus
Prerequisites: Anatomy, physiology, immunology and genetics
Target skills and knowledge: Pathology: The Course introduce the student to the complex pathologic phenomena. At the end of the course the student should be able to understand that, 1) the state of a disease is a consequence of the interaction between internal and/or external causes and the regulation mechanisms of the organism; 2) the onset of the homeostasis may amplify the process of the disease; 3) clinical and anatomical examples will be used to explain crucial pathologic mechanisms.

Otolaryngology:
Examination methods: Pathology: Sixty multiple choice selected from a list of 200 questions (time 50 minute) score: 30/30
Personal communications of each student to a topic of choice during the course.

Otolaryngology: Written proof of 3 open queries (time 90 minutes) with score 30/30.
Assessment criteria: Pathology: Answer at least 45 of the 60 multiple choice questions in 60 min.
Course unit contents: Lessons will point out on the following subjects:
1) Introduction to general pathology.
2) Cellular pathology.
3) Tissue response to lesions.
4) Organism response to lesions.
5) Tumors.
6) Biological agents.
Additional notes about suggested reading: Teaching materials will be provided.
