Prerequisites: It is assumed that students are familiar with the high school Mathematics curriculum. Specifically, the student is required to be acquainted with the topics in Mathematics and Logic upon which the compulsory entry test for the Engeenering School at Padova Universityis based. More details available online at
Target skills and knowledge: Ability to to use in concrete problems the basic techniques of linear algebra: solving linear systems, matrix calculus (determinants, characteristic polynomial, diagonalization), orthogonal projections. Linear geometry of Euclidean space (equations for lines and planes, computing distances, intersections, parallelism).
Examination methods: Written exam, possibly with an additional oral examination in exceptional cases. Possibility of substituting the final exam with two smaller written tests held during the course.
Assessment criteria: The amount of competence in the techniques introduced during the course will be verified by checking the ability to solve written exercises.
