Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Specific characteristics of the Module

Course unit contents: After defining the concept of religion, the module aims to analyze the most relevant sociological theories that interpret the relationship between religion and the contemporary world. In dealing with the role of religion within different societies, the links between religions and human rights will be deepened.
Specifically, the course will focus on the following topics:
1. the most important authors in the sociology of religion
2. the sacred
3. religion and religiosity
4. the dimensions of religion
5. typology of socioreligious organization
6. institution and charisma
7. religion and violence
8 religions and human rights
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: 1. Frontal teaching: the lectures will always try to involve the students, especially in the analysis of case studies.
2. Discussions in the classroom: the lessons will try to stimulate the discussion of the students.
3. Workshops with experts: workshops with national and international experts will be organized within the course.
Attendance is strongly recommended.
