Syllabus
Prerequisites: None.
Target skills and knowledge: The course aims at giving the theoretical basis and the conceptual foundations of the relationship in social work -in particular concerning the emotional and reflexive dimensions, and the analysis of the conceptual dyads belonging/non belonging and inclusion/exclusion.
Examination methods: Oral examination.
The examination will assess the ability to reason about either the experiential subjective process of knowing, and to the analytical point of view of the social sciences applied to social work.
All the students, within ten days before the examination, must deliver to the professor the notebook where they have recorded in written form the process of *doing* the ethnographic exercises (D. Nigris' book). See Further info about the texts.
The text, handwritten, will contain personal descriptions and analyses. Its dimensions must be at least of 66 written pages.
Assessment criteria: Comprehension of the relational and theoretical fundamentals of a helping relationship.
Course unit contents: 1) Observing, listening and reading documents: Exercices for the Social Worker.
2) City and the society: metaphors to understand the social world and the sense of belonging.
3) Inclusion, exclusion, stigma.
4) Theoretical models of Social work (an introduction).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lessons and group discussion
Additional notes about suggested reading: Nigris' book must be *done* according to the instructions therein written. It consists in 33 exercises to do with another person -the partner can be anybody. The student must handwrite everything in a notebook, which will bear the name, surname and The university ID of the student. The notebook must be delivered to the professor's office (via Cesarotti 10/12, Padua) within ten days before the examination.
