Target skills and knowledge: The purpose of the course is that of providing students with a battery of economic models (that is simplified and formalized representations of real situations) about households' and firms' behavior, in order to analyse and identify the key determinats of consumption, investment and production choices. Starting from individual behaviors and decisions, it will be possible to determine the market equilibrium and it will possible to measure the resulting social welfare.
Examination methods: Witten exam.
Assessment criteria: A key comptence that will be assessed is student's ability of representing problems and situations by means of the set of tools learned in the course and student's ability of conjecturing what should be the right solution.
Course unit contents: Consumer theory;
Households' supply of inputs;
Decisions under uncertainty
Firm theory, technology and costs;
Competitive equilibrium;
General equilibrium and welfare economics;
Introduction to game theory;
Oligopoly and strategic behaviour.
