Target skills and knowledge: The course will provide students with the basic skills that are necessary in order to gain:
- comprehension and appropriate use of legal language;
- knowledge of principles and of criteria used in the resolution of conflicts among private interests;
- ability to comprehension of the most important private law texts (Constitution, Civil Code,main statutes)
- ability in the field of private law
Examination methods: Written examination. The exam consists of 8 questions, 5 open-ended and 3 multiple-choice.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation consideres not only the right answers but also the use of right legal language and the seriousness of the mistakes.
Course unit contents: Introduction. General principles of private law.
Sources of law. Sources of private law.
Persons and organizations.
Property, rights in property and possession.
The law of obligations.
The law of contract.
Types of contracts: main notions.
Tort law.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Attendance at lectures is strongly suggested. Lessons will take place with constant reference to case studies.
Teachers also use slides, which are loaded on moodle.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The student must use a civil code to study private law.
The study program doesn't include these subjects: corporate law, family law, succession law.
