Syllabus
Prerequisites: An in-depth knowledge of the French language in its four abilities (comprehension / expression, written / oral), at the B2 + consolidated level / C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is requested.
Target skills and knowledge: The course aims at forming or introducing the student to the main theoretical and practical issues concerning translation. The theoretical competencies acquired in the field of Translation Studies will form the basis for a more specific reflection on the translation of children and young adult literature (with particular regard to the translation from French to Italian). Throughout the course, students are expected to convert the theoretical knowledge acquired into practical knowledge, to acquire solid professional skills.
Examination methods: Students attending the course “Lingua, Linguistica e Traduzione Francese 1” will take
- an oral exam (interpreting FR>IT)
- a written exam consisting of a translation (FR>IT)

Students attending the course “Lingua, Linguistica e Traduzione Francese 2” will take
- a written exam consisting of a translation (FR>IT)
- an oral exam focusing on the topics of the course
Assessment criteria: Examinations aims at testing the student’s ability to operate good translational choices and to discuss and contextualize them.
Course unit contents: Students attending the course 'Lingua, Linguistica e Traduzione Francese 1' are expected to follow the main course and, in parallel, the practical lessons (didattica assistita, Mme Aude Labastie)
Students attending the course 'Lingua, Linguistica e Traduzione Francese 2' are expected to follow the main course and, in parallel, the conferences organized by the Department (‘Professioni delle Lingue’; “Giornate dell’editoria e della Traduzione Letteraria”) as explained in the home page of the ‘laurea magistrale LLA’ (esami > stage tirocinio).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The lectures are complemented by practical activities aimed to provide the student with the opportunity to convert the theoretical notions acquired into good teaching practices.
Seminar activities aim to provide the student with opportunities to deepen the knowledge acquired and support professional development.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The lectures are complemented by practical activities aimed to provide the student with the opportunity to convert the theoretical notions acquired into good teaching practices.
