Syllabus
Prerequisites: Knowledge acquired with a basic course of fundamentals of computer science or with an equivalent basic course.
Target skills and knowledge: Acquisition of the knowledge of the process of planning, designing and creating a website.
Acquisition of skills in the management of a project (project management) and in the realization of a project also working in a group.
Acquisition of the ability to evaluate the quality of a website.
Acquisition of methodological skills and experimental skills to collaborate in the conception, design, restructuring, creation and management of websites.
Acquisition of skills to communicate effectively using the technologies offered by the Web.
Examination methods: After the conclusion of the course, each student will have to pass a final exam that covers all the contents of the course's lessons.
The evaluation of the exercise carried out individually or in a group during the course and the evaluation of the final exam contribute to the final evaluation.
Assessment criteria: The final exam veriies the acquisition of skills related to the ability to evaluate, conceive, design, restructure, implement and manage simple websites together with the ability to collaborate in the design and development of complex websites.
The homework is used to test the ability to apply the acquired skills in an experimental way.
Course unit contents: Professionalism involved in the design, implementation and maintenance of a website.
The process of designing, creating and maintaining a website.
Study of a quality analysis model of a website and its application with real case studies.
The Internet: the purposes of reference models and application protocols in use, addressing of resources in Internet.
The client/server model in Internet applications.
Hypertext and hypertext systems: basic concepts.
Introduction to the World Wide Web: architecture, components and technologies of the Web.
Structure and content of a Web page: markup languages, elements for preparing Web pages, HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and creation of HTML documents.
Elements of project management.
Web page presentation: Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and rules for their realization.
Social media integration.
Basic features of Web content management systems: Content Management Systems and content publishing platforms.
Retrieval of information in the Web (Search Engines) and techniques of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Attendance at lessons is strongly recommended, because the course is designed for students who regularly attend classes, do the experimental activities of the course, perform individual exercises and group work.
