Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of general linguistics.
Target skills and knowledge: Aim of the course is to introduce the student to the psychology of language. The course will describe processes of language comprehension and production in both oral/signed and written modalities at different levels of analysis: from phonemes to words and sentences.
Aside from models and evidence of cognitive psychology, some neurolinguistic methods and models will be presented, emphasising the difference between mental and neural models. A rather large space will be devoted to specific methods of empirical research as well as to the properties of the architectures and mechanism of the cognitive systems.
Examination methods: The exam is oral.
Assessment criteria: The grade will be based on the evaluation of the comprehension of the topic discussed during the lessons, also by considering the bibliography. To evaluate excellence the critical thinking will be assessed also by discussing possible applications, researches and models not explicitly mentioned during the course. Two questions will be on the general part and one will be about one of the two seminars.
Course unit contents: General part:
