Syllabus
Prerequisites: This course is taught in Paris (France) – It is reserved for students enrolled in the International Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in “Techniques, Patrimoine, Territoires de l’Industrie" (TPTI)
Examination methods: Examination methods:
The exam takes the form of continuous assessment during the seminars, with a final report. Further information is available on the website of the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Course unit contents: Students learn:
- Specific concepts related to the subject.
- Methodological approaches: use of a multidisciplinary approach; detect and analyze technical statements (text, image); introduction to methods of cultural heritage analysis.
- Know-how: carry out a bibliographic search; conduct research at the archives; define an object and / or a technical process and connect it with relevant issues; establish a text / fieldwork association; establish a text / experimentation association; understand and interpret technical transfer mechanisms; establish models of investigation; create assumptions by establishing links with other historical fields (economic history, social history) and with complementary disciplines (archaeology of techniques, industrial archaeology, paleometallurgy).
