Prerequisites: This course is taught in Paris (France) – It is reserved for students enrolled in the International Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in “Techniques, Patrimoine, Territoires de l’Industrie" (TPTI)
Examination methods: Examination methods:
The exam takes the form of continuous assessment during the seminars, with a final report. Further information is available on the website of the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Course unit contents: The history of technology is the historical approach to all objects created by human beings in a defined context in order to solve a set of practical problems. Students learn to analyze, in an historical perspective, objects, processes, and skills. This specialty spans different periods (medieval: 12th-15th centuries; modern: 16th-18th centuries; contemporary: 19th and 20th centuries) and cultures (the geographical areas concerned are both European and non-European).
