Syllabus
Prerequisites: Familiarity with the basic concepts of developmental psychology
Target skills and knowledge: The course aims to examine the developmental trends of the constructs involved in educational-career planning (career knowledge, career stereotypes and barriers, career curiosity, courage, etc.) and to analyze parental influences in children’s career development. It also aims to analyze assessment instruments for career guidance and career intervention programs for children and adolescents.
Examination methods: The exam will be in written form, with two open-ended questions. The exam lasts an hour.
Assessment criteria: - Knowledge of the theoretical topics covered by the program
- Knowledge of assessment instruments for career guidance and career interventions
- Use of technical language
Course unit contents: - Recent models and theoretical frameworks in career guidance psychology
- Dimensions and constructs involved in educational-career planning (career knowledge, career stereotypes and barriers, career curiosity, courage, etc.)
- Qualitative and quantitative assessment instruments for career guidance
- Career intervention for children and adolescents
- Career interventions for parents to support their children’s educational-career choices
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The lectures will discuss the main theoretical and methodological issues of the discipline and will present field experiences. In addition to the lectures, discussions, exemplifications and exercitations will be used for an in-depth analysis of the main topics.
Additional notes about suggested reading: International students are given the opportunity to study material in English to be agreed with the professor
