Prerequisites: Knowledge about methodology of research in psychology, clinical and personality psychology is necessary.
Target skills and knowledge: Students will gain an overview of the psychotherapeutic process, the basic skills of psychological counseling and knowledge related to the research and evaluation of psychotherapeutic treatments.
Examination methods: There will be a written test lasting up to 45 minutes, consisting of a total of 20 questions (open and multiple choice). An oral exam is also required at the teacher's request.
Assessment criteria: The student will be evaluated on the basis of the acquisition and the ability to apply the concepts proposed.
Course unit contents: The course will provide the basic elements of psychological counseling, and psychotherapy treatments. It will also provide knowledge relating to assertiveness, assertiveness training and the evaluation of psychotherapeutic treatments.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, individual training activities and discussion of video interviews are scheduled.
Additional notes about suggested reading: It is recommended to consult the guidelines of psychological treatment developed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence- NICE) and downloaded at with regard to the following disorders: Schizophrenia, Depression in adult and young, Obsessive compulsive disoder.
