Prerequisites: Basic elements of statistics and of measurement in psychology acquired during the Psychometrics course.
Target skills and knowledge: The course provides the theoretical and methodological knowledge for building psychological tests, and for interpreting their results. The aim is to provide future psychologists with the essential knowledge for proper and aware use of psychological tests.
Examination methods: Written exam with opened and multiple-choice questions both theoretical and practical. A list of the main formoulae can be used during the exam. Textbooks are not allowed.
Assessment criteria: - The relevance and completeness of the answer with respect to the themes requested.
- Mastery of technical-specialist language.
- Correct application of the formulae and precision in the computation execution.
Course unit contents: Measurement models in psychology, with particular reference to the classical test theory. It will be investigated:
(1) the methodological aspects and the phases of the construction and the administration of a test
(2) the most important metric properties of a test and the interpretation of scores
(3) different types of personality tests are presented
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course is organized in theoretical lectures and practical exercises, individual and group. In the theoretical lectures, the topics will be treated in their general aspects. The exercises will be dedicated to an in-depth study of the topics dealt with in class. The participation of students during classroom exercises is requested.
