Basic knowledge on advanced techniques used to perform a qualitative and quantitative characterization of naturally occurring biomolecules (proteins, polysaccharides and nucleic acids).
In particular the course will Introduce the students to the design, production and use of biodrugs. |

Biodrugs: basic concept; production; purification; storage Evaluation of the potential application of pharmacologically active macromolecules
Optimization of pharmacologically active macromolecules
combinatorial approaches
relevant examples (enzymes, hormones, antibodies, nucleic acids)
Data analysis
electrophoretic tecniques (2D; sequencing, EMSA,CE)
Spectroscopic tecniques (CD, Fret, fluorescence quencing)
MIcrocalorimetric tecniques (ITC, DSC)
Biosensors (SPR)

A main module of teaching will provide the basic concept.
This will be inegrated with
- practical experience on some analitical techniques
- example of critical reading of literature papers
- lessons hold by experts in selected topics |
