Prerequisites:
The course requires knowledge in Calculus, Linear Algebra and Physics. |
Target skills and knowledge:
The aim of the course is to provide the student with basic knowledge about propagation of electromagnetic fields in metallic wave-guides and, mostly, in optical fibers. The student will also have the opportunity to participate to lab activities, both experimental and numerical. |
Examination methods:
The knowledge and skills of the student are assessed by means of a written exam, the reports about the experimental laboratory and an optional oral exam. The oral exam is mandatory is the student does not attend successfully the laboratory activity. The written exam includes both exercises and open questions. |
Assessment criteria:
The student will be evaluated on his/her comprehension and knowledge of the course topics and on his/her ability to elaborate and discuss them clearly and with proper language. The same criteria are applied in the evaluation of the laboratory reports. |
