Prerequisites:

Topics of the courses of Environmental Chemistry 2 and Analytical Chemistry result to be pivotal |
Target skills and knowledge:
|
-Knowledge of the european regulatory documents related to the environmental remediation and managment of the contaminated sites.
-Ability in understanding the dynamics of environmental contamination in soil, water and air.
-Understanding the main topics of the risk evaluation.
-Knowledge of the main remediation techniques.
-Knowledge of the main techniques for characterizing environmental contaminants.
-Laboratory activities: ability in managing all the steps required for the environmental analysis |
Examination methods:

Oral exam that includes questions on both parts of the course and on the laboratory activity and related reports presented |
Assessment criteria:
|
Ability in understanding the chemo-physical principles underlying the studied phenomena. Knowledge of the techniques and instrumentations described in the course. Knowledge of the appropriate scientific terminology. |
Course unit contents:

The course is divided into two sections:
-Section 1 (16 hours) concerns characterization and management of the risk related to contaminated sites.
-Section 2 (16 hours) concerns dynamics of the contaminants and techniques of remediation. |
