Syllabus
Prerequisites: The knowledge of basic concepts of animal cell biology and general chemistry is requested.
Target skills and knowledge: The student will acquire the knowledge of tissue and organ structural properties at macroscopic and microscopic level. The transmission of this knowledge will guarantee a better understanding of the following courses in biochemistry, physiology, pathology and pharmacology.
Examination methods: The student can give the exam by written or oral test. The written test will be taken in three parts: 1) biology and histology; 2) splanchnology and nervous system. Each test will take 90 minutes and will be based on two queries. The final mark will be the weighted arithmetic mean of the two tests. The oral exam will be taken on the entire programme of course. At the beginning of the teaching course, the student will receive the list of exam dates fixed for the academic year: 6 written tests (three during the teaching course, one in the months of february, june, july and september) and 4 oral exams (one in the months of february, june, july and september)
Assessment criteria: The student will be evaluated on the basis of the acquired knowledge of animal organ and tissue microscopic and macroscopic structure.
Course unit contents: The course will be focused on the study of the tissue levels of organization and the morphology, microscopic/ultramicroscopic structure characterizing the body organs, apparatus and systems.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The use of slides and plastic anatomical models will be functional to explain the topics of each lesson. Moreover, in case the reference teachers of Human Anatomy are available, the students will make a day of study at the Institute of Human Anatomy, Via Falloppio, Padova
Additional notes about suggested reading: The student will receive a copy of slides of the teaching course. Books will be suggested to examine in depth the topics of course programme.
