Prerequisites: The course assumes that the students have previously covered the concepts presented in the course of Sistemi di Elaborazione I (Computer Systems I) as well as the ability to analyze and synthesize simple programs in C language.
Target skills and knowledge: The ability of discriminating the information from the way in which computer systems represent it, and the ability of designing proper algorithms to manage data on computers are the main skill delivered by the course.
The knowledge acquired relate to the way in which the programmer represents information through data structures and to the way in which the computer represents them.
The course also addresses the ability to represent algorithms to process data structures by means of routeines written in a programming language.
Examination methods: The test will include specific problems of information processing to be solved through the appropriate methods of synthesis of logical networks, correctly simulated by writing programs in C language. The examination will be the C program in source form.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will take into account the correctness of the solution provided by the routine written by means of a programming language.
Course unit contents: - The main data structures used to represent information
- the main algorithms to process data structures
- the algorithm and data structure implementation through a programming language.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course in the classroom provides the theoretical explanation of the concepts through the traditional blackboard, their validation through special programs built on the spot with a visible terminal in video projection.
In the computer room some exercises will be performed that simulate the examination tests.
