Syllabus
Prerequisites: No previous competence in the field of psychology is required; students must be prepared at a general high school level
Target skills and knowledge: The aim of the course is to give students an overview of what cognitive science has discovered over the past century. The course is mainly centered on cognitive processing with a special focus on the experimental method in the different psychological domains. At the end of the course students will gain an understanding of the principal issues encountered in the study of the mind/ brain, and will be encouraged to adopt a critical perspective on the theoretical approaches proposed to explain empirical results.
Examination methods: The exam consist of 80 multiple choice question in 1 hour of time. For students regularly attending classes there will be the opportunity to get partial exams during the course.
Assessment criteria: The assessment is based on the total of correct/wrong answers to multiple choice questions. Each correct answer adds one point, each wrong answer takes away 0.25. To pass the exam at least 40 points are required.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Whenever possible, theoretical lessons are paired with more practical classes where examples of every day applications are given. Students can actively took part to some experiments and to visit some laboratories. For this students can enroll for experiments through the following link: http://colab.psy.unipd.it/
Students attending classes will be tested also on these in the partial exams.
