Syllabus
Prerequisites: basic biology
Target skills and knowledge: Biological basis of behavior.

The main aim of the course is to provide students with the psychobiological basis of cognitive development (typical and atypical) characterized by neural plasticity.
Examination methods: Written exam:
31 multiple-choice questions
Duration 45 minutes

Neural conduction and synaptic transmission
Methods of study in psychobiology

Mechanisms of perception, consciousness and attention
The sensorimotor system

Neural plasticity
Neural development
Brain injury and neuroplasticity
Learning, memory and amnesia

Hemispheric lateralization, language and split-brain
psychobiology of psychiatric disorders
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: lectures and class discussions
Mini lectures by studentes (paper discussion)
Whenever possible experiments will be conducted or collected questionnaires in class and made tutorials on how to structure and conduct scientific research.
