Syllabus
Prerequisites: It is advisable to have passed the exams of General Psychology and Social Psychology.
Target skills and knowledge: KNOWLEDGE AND CAPACITY OF UNDERSTANDING
Knowing the main approaches to the study of personality
Knowing some tools for measuring the personality
Deepening the concept of self-esteem and its relations with the development of personality
Knowing some research paradigms and measurement tools of individual differences and self-esteem

USING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY
Knowing how to distinguish and evaluate the applicability fields of different modalities for evaluating personality components and individual differences in the areas covered
Understanding the relationships between personality and success / satisfaction in the work
Understanding the links between self-esteem, personality and individual differences in the various areas treated

CRITICAL CAPACITIES
Distinguish between different factors causing individual differences in motivation, intelligence, memory, study and spatial skills
Understanding the role of some personality variables or individual differences in test performance

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Knowing how to correctly report the components eventually evaluated, indicating tools and procedures
Returning the assessed aspects in a clear and effective manner

CAPACITY OF LEARNING
Distinguish between different approaches to the study of personality
Identify the intra-individual and inter-individual components of the investigated aspects
Examination methods: There will be five questions printed on a sheet, to answer briefly and schematically in an hour.
The format of the questions will be 'The theory....', 'Describe the model....', 'Characteristics of the approach.....', 'Assessment of...'.
There will be also a further question to choose eventually in place of one of the previous.
Examples of questions will be provided during the course.

International students can do the exam in English.
Assessment criteria: For each of the 5 questions a score from 0 to 6 will be assigned, following this scale

0= unaswered, wrong answer
1= only small inaccurate points
2= a few points, some wrong
3= incomplete and with many inaccuracies
4= correct, but not complete
5= good: correct and complete
6= excellent: well-written and described

The following aspects will be assessed
a) the relevance of the answer and its completeness
b) the ability to identify the correct technical terms and the authors or names of theories (where appropriate)
c) the skills of synthesis and clear and correct schematization of the contents

The sum will be the mark published on uniweb. If some answers will be particularly rich and the mark already equal to thirty will be accorded the distinction of praise.

Resumption of the main contents of the course and of the modalities to assess the personality and individual differences considered
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: It will be stimulated, through an interactive teaching the identification of links between the various approaches and between the individual differences aspects considered.
Examples of possible exam questions and expected answers will be given.
We will report cases and examples of research with the invitation to estimate the expected results or the most effective procedures that will then be extensively illustrated.
At the end of each lesson will be proposed and completed together a summary of the main points and of the relations between concepts.
Additional notes about suggested reading: In addition to the books, it is to study the material that will be published in full, without further addition, online on Moodle, the week before the beginning of the course.
In order to direct the preparation, on Moodle the students will also find a facsimile of task, examples of questions and examples of complete answers, clear and schematic, evaluable with 6 and others less clear and precise. given the possibility of agreeing with the teacher an alternative program in English.
