Syllabus
Prerequisites: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the nervous system with special attention to the organization of ascending and descending pathways, to the anatomy of the main nervous trunks, to the physiology of synaptic transmission.
Target skills and knowledge: Neurological clinical and instrumental seismology, physiopathology of the main neurological syndromes and ability to focus the site of damage on the basis of clinical presentation. Ability to know the epidemiology, the pathology, the clinical presentation and course, the diagnostic route and the outline of treatment of each group of neurological disease.
Assessment criteria: Correct answers for more than 60%.
Course unit contents: The main motor, sensory, cognitive syndromes.
Physiopathology of movement disorders.
The peripheral nervous lesions, principles, orientation and connection signs-lesion.
The main neurological diseases: cerebrovascular, inflammatory and degenerative diseases. Parkinsonisms. The cores. The ataxias. Motoneurone diseases. Neuropathies. The diseases of the junction. Myopathies.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, clinical case presentations, videos.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The documentation discussed during the lecture will constitute the necessary basis for the assessment. Specific themes on the indicated texts can be deepen.
