Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: Aims:
1) development of engineering methods for evaluating the stress state of mechanical components that can be described as 1D body
2) development of criteria for the assessment of structural integrity under static as well as fatigue loadings
3) development of criteria for the evaluation of 1D buckling
Examination methods: 1. The exam is based on 2 exercises and 2 questions
2. Oral evaluation only for exam evaluation equal or higher than 26
Assessment criteria: The student is required to have a sufficient knowledge of topics developed during the Course
Course unit contents: Main topic. Forces and reaction forces. Tension, Compression and Shear. Axially loaded members. Torsion. Shear forces and Bending Moments. Stresses in beams. Analysis of stress amd strain. Deflections of Beams. Fatigue in metallic materials. Constant amplitude fatigue. Variable amplitude fatigue. Natural frequencies in isostatic structures.
