Syllabus
Prerequisites: no previous knowledge is required
Target skills and knowledge: The student may acquire knowledge concerning basic aspects of the chemistry of elements, chemical processes and physical-chemical aspects of the matter in a relationship, in particular, with the properties of materials and their application.
Examination methods: The examination can be passed through a written test (questions and exercises) and an optional oral one. The written test can be only one at the end of the course or passed in two trances, at about an half and at the end of the course.
At the beginning of the course all information will be given.
Assessment criteria: At the beginning of the course all the details concerning the examination are given.
Course unit contents: Atomic structure of the matter. Atomic nucleus: basic radiochemistry. Electronic configuration of elements and periodic table. Chemical bonds. Aggregation states: gas, liquid, solid. Chemical reactions: thermodynamic and kinetic aspects. Equilibria. Chemistry of water. Phase diagrams. Electrochemistry. Faraday laws. Corrosion.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: the lessons will be offered by using both slides and black-board.
