Prerequisites: Corporate Governance and Management 1
Target skills and knowledge: The purpose of the exam is to provide students with:
[1] theoretical knowledge of the relationships between external environment and organizational decisions; [2] theoretical knowledge of human behaviors within organizations; [3] basic concepts and principles of organizational theory for organizational design (Module A);
[4] a theoretical background to understand the evolution of capitalism; [5] theoretical knowledge on the main functions and processes of the firm; [6] the management of firm processes (Module B).
Examination methods: Written and oral (if necessary) examination
Assessment criteria: Multiple-choice, True and False, and open-end questions on course’s topics economic news and case studies.
Course unit contents: Module A – Organization
The evolution of organizational thought
The forms of rationality
People: competences, motivation, teams
Environment: markets, technology and institutions
The governance of relations: markets, hierarchy and organizational conventions
Organizational forms: simple structure, functional structure, divisional structure, matrix structure

Module B – Functions and processes of the firm:
Environmental complexity and new management paradigms
The innovation process and entrepreneurship
Marketing and distribution: strategies and processes
The manufacturing and logistic processes
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, case study presentation and discussion, seminars
