Prerequisites:
|
It is obligatory to have passed the Slovene Language I exam. |
Target skills and knowledge:
|
This course, with the title "Reading and Understanding Slovene Texts", consists in reading five text pieces that have been chosen in order to progressively develop the ability to independently read Slovene. This is deemed necessary for working with texts in Slovene when preparing your first thesis. |
Examination methods:
|
The exam will be oral and will last about 20 minutes. The student will specifically be asked to orally translate two short stretches of text chosen among the texts that have been treated during the course. |
Assessment criteria:
|
For the evaluation the following criteria obtain:
1) understanding the Slovene text;
2) the ability to analyze and comment morphological and syntactical aspects of the chosen text;
3) an adequate translation in Italian. |
Course unit contents:
|
During the course text pieces will be treated that have been extracted from:
1) Ivan Cankar: "Hlapec Jernej in njegova pravica";
2) Miran Hladnik: "Praktični spisovnik, ali Sola strokovnega ubesedovanja";
3) AA.VV. : "Zgodovina Slovencev";
4) Jože Toporišič: "Slovenska slovnica";
5) Janko Kos: "Na poti v postmoderno".
These texts have been chosen in order to familiarize the student with various types of humanistic text (literature, writing techniques, general history, linguistics, history of literature) |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods:
|
The lectures take the form of workshop activities. First, the chosen texts will be translated individually, followed up by checking the results within the group and discussing typical problems of understanding and translation. The use of monolingual dictionaries is stimulated in order to speed up developing independency when reading Slovene. Presence at the lectures is indispensable. |
Additional notes about suggested reading:
|
Supporting material will be uploaded in Moodle. |
