Prerequisites: A good knowledge of the fundamentals of Dynamic Psychology and of the psychoanalytic model, acquired in a three-year degree will be helpful for understanding this course.
The contents of the course will be integrated with those of other courses : 'Basi biologiche e psicodinamiche del parenting' that takes place in the same semester and 'Modelli e strumenti di prevenzione del disagio in adolescenza' that takes place in the second semester
Target skills and knowledge: The student will gain knowledge of the main models of consultation and clinical intervention with children and adolescents, in a relational perspective. The knowledge will concern the primary and secondary prevention of psychological distress of children and adolescents in their own environment (family, peer group, school).
Such knowledge will be deepened by the student in the second semester through the acquisition of practical and “professionalizing” skills, attending laboratories as 'La valutazione clinica con l'adolescente' and 'Metodi di valutazione delle interazioni familiari'.
Examination methods: The exam is written. It is composed by 3 open-ended questions (also in English Language) on two required texts and on the text of your choice. The exam will last for 90 minutes.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will be based on student’s ability to develop the topics of the questions precisely and completely, also showing –though concisely- his/her own personal knowledge and critical thinking skills, with the possibility of laud whereas the teacher notices particular originality and competency.
Course unit contents: PART I
- The evolution, in a relational perspective, of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic models of child development and their relationship with the clinical work with the child
- The models of intergenerational transmission of psychopathology and clinical work with parents (caregivers) and child
- The mentalization and the "minding the baby"
- The psychodynamic and psychoanalytic models of preadolescence and adolescence
- The clinical work with pre adolescents and adolescents in a relational perspective (parents, peer group ...)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: - Frontal lectures concern topics in program that the student will deepen through the study of textbooks.
- Active participation of students with comments and questions is expected
-In the context of lessons, integrative seminars of external experts on specific topics are expected.
- Attending students will receive, during the lessons, signs of a mode of exam preparation that takes account of classroom teaching.
During the semester - in collaboration with other teachers - we will provide seminars with experts of the issues to be explored, according to an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to facilitate learning from students and understanding of practical issues, in research and/or clinical practice.
Additional notes about suggested reading: Tambelli R. (2012) Psicologia clinica dell’età evolutiva. Bologna: il Mulino The student will have to study the chapters I-II-III-IV-VI-VII. The clinical exemplifications are not to be studied.
Other courses (and in particular in the course 'Basi bio-psico-dinamiche del parenting') will address the topics covered in the other chapters of the text.
If the student intended to deepen a particular subject, he may propose to the approval of the teacher an alternative text to choose books.
