Target skills and knowledge: The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge for a critical understanding of the Psychologist Deontological Code and of the Code of Psychological Research Ethics. The deontological norms are rules of conduct that should be respected by the psychologists in the exercise of professional activity and that provide important food for thought on the complexity of psychological interventions.
The main skill to be acquired concern the ability to grasp the critical aspects from a deontological and ethical point of view of psychological interventions.
Examination methods: Exam type: Written
Written exam: Three open questions.
An example of the exam will be inserted in moodle and will be commented during the lessions.
Duration of the exam: 60 minutes
Assessment criteria: The knowledge of the codes and the deontological awareness of the student are considered.
Course unit contents: Deontology is the set of values, principles, rules that every professional group should observe in the exercise of the profession.
1. Deontological rules between ethics and legal norms - Deontological Code of Italian Psychologists: objectives and functions - Violations and sanctions
2. The Deontological Code of Italian Psychologists - General Principles; Relationships of the psychologist with society and colleagues
3. Relationships of the psychologist with the client and the user: General principles
4. Areas of work of the psychologist (school, companies, health ...) and deontology.
5. Research ethics.
6. Examples of problematic professional situations: case presentation and discussion
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course introduces students to the knowledge of the Deontological Code and of the Ethics of Research Code. It is intended to develop a critical knowledge of the deontological principles of the psychological profession.
The lessons - with examples - will cover the topics in the program. The discussion of cases and the direct involvement of the students in activities of analysis and critical reasoning on the proposed cases is foreseen.
