Prerequisites: As classes are in Italian, knowledge of the Italian language is required.
Target skills and knowledge: The course provides an introduction to the issues and the technologies related to computing and networking. This introduction allows the applied cognitive psychologist to approach the now pervasive ICT tools with a view that is neither naive nor passive towards the instruments themselves .
Examination methods: Tests and open-ended questions that are weight-averaged to define the final mark.
Two hours to complete the test.
Alternatively, it is possible to present a short thesis on a topic discussed with the professor.
Use of English language is possible on request.
The book and most of the material may be found in English too.
Assessment criteria: Both operational and theoretical competence will be checked.
Course unit contents: The course introduces computing architectures , digital representation of information, operating systems , networks (both in the general case and with particular attention ot the Internet); the course also addresses issues such as privacy , information security and the use of new technologies in prosthetic devices for cognitive disorders .
