Syllabus
Prerequisites: Knowledge of basic models and mechanisms of cognitive processing
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of CNS
Target skills and knowledge: Competences on neural basis of cognitive functions in the life-span
Intervantion techniques for abilitation, rehabilitation and potentiation.
Applications of neuropsychological tecniques to the living situations of healthy people (i.e.flight controllers, sportsmen, simmultaneous translators).
Examination methods: Written multiple choice among 5 alternatives. The questions will be total 31.
For those attending will be organized activities (presentation of articles, presentation of an intervention project) during the course that will be evaluated in the final exam for a maximum of 3 points to be added to the vote.
Assessment criteria: Each correct answer is worth 1 point, each wrong answer or no date is worth 0 points. To pass the exam you must have at least 18 correct answers
Course unit contents: Recently neurospycholy has been considered as one of the basic disciplines in the study of the relations between mind and brain.
Furthermore, in the last years neuropsychology has extended its field of research to affective and emotional brain circuits.
The course intends to offer a pattern of relations between brain and behaviour by the most recent and important innovations.
The course will consist of the following topics:
- Short hystory of neuropsychology
- Methods
- Functional hemispheric specialisation in the life span
- Neuropsychology of executive functions
- Cognitive and neural changing in aging
- Neuroergonomy
- Cognitive effects and expertise of different jobs
- Sport neuropsychology
- Adaptive automation
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course mainly consists of lectures.
Experts will be invited on specific topics relevant to the course
Participation in practical exercises in the laboratory is also foreseen
Additional notes about suggested reading: for foreign students: it is possible to give the exam in English with english bibligraphy. Please contact the teacher.
