Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of biology, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology

Good knowledge of human electrophysiology (EEG, ERP)
Target skills and knowledge: Students will be required to learn the principal theoretical concepts and methodological tools at the basis of the use of the EEG (either conventional or high-density) relatively to both signal acquisition and analysis
Examination methods: multiple-choiche questionnaire
Assessment criteria: The acquisition of theoretical and methodological knowledge about EEG signal acquisition and recording will be assessed
Course unit contents: Theoretical frontal lecture

-Comparison between conventional and HD-EEG systems: costs and benefits
- The concept of spatial analysis: from waveforms to bi- and three-dimensional scalp maps
-Examples of experimental studies

Laboratory sessions:
-Lab setting
-E-PRIME for NET-STATION, triggering and TCP/IP protocol
- Geodesic system: WORKSTATION, WIRES, AMPLIFIER, NETS, ET
-NET STATION software: Graphical interface, online filters, etc
- HD-net preparation and montage (HC-GSDN 128)
- HD-EEG signal acquisition on a volunteer: graphoelements and artifact recognizing
- on-line filtering, re-referencing and FFT
- Off-line signal preprocessing (NET-STATION 4.4.1 SOFTWARE): downsampling, filtering, epoching, artifact detection and correction, bad channel interpolation, averaging, waveform visual inspection
- Cortical source reconstruction
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The first frontal lecture will be theoretical.
The remaining part of the course will be held in the interdepartmental HD-EEG lab (EGI-GES 300)
