Prerequisites: It is neccesary to know basis of Electric Circuit, Magnetic Fields and Electrical Machines theory.
Target skills and knowledge: Expertise on analysis and design of electrical machines.
Expertise on analysis of electrical machines by usign modern computation tools (in particular finite element analysis method).
Computation of electromagnetic fields.

Course unit contents: Design and analysis of electric machines
Design of electrical machines for standard applications. Design of single- and three-phase reactors and transformers, with air and oil cooling system.Synchronous machines. Induction motors. DC motors.
Design of electrical machines for electrical drives. DC motors with wound rotor and permanent magnet rotor. Brushless motors. Induction motors. Synchronous reluctance motors. Switched reluctance motors. Additional losses and stress due to the electronic converter supply.

Innovative tools and techniques for the electrical machine design. Optimization techniques as design tools. Applications of electromagnetic field computation tools (Laboratory of finite element analysis of electrical machines).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures with help of blackboard.

Exercises of electrical machine design.
