Syllabus
Prerequisites: The prerequisites are included in the requirements for access to the master's degree in Product Innovation Engineering and Engineering Management. In particular, knowledge on mechanical engineering in the first cycle degree.
Target skills and knowledge: The course of the Maintenance Management provides specific knowledge about the maintenance engineering, from the reliability analysis methods to the design and planning of interventions and application of innovative maintenance strategies.
The main skills acquired is the ability to design an integrated industrial system maintenance, starting from the definition of maintenance, the collection of data from the field, the critical analysis of the industrial plants to the planning of actions, including the spare parts management and resources management.
Examination methods: The exam consists of a written test with mathematical modelling and theoretical questions.
Assessment criteria: The scores are based on:
-the knowledge and ability to understand the methodologies for the integrated design of the maintenance
-the ability to solve industrial problems with regard to maintenance of industrial systems.
communication Skill: the ability to relate appropriately a process of design and development of Maintenance Strategy
Course unit contents: - Introduction to the maintenance of complex systems and its relationship with other company functions. Total Productive Maintenance and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
- Reliability Theory: a concept of components and systems. Reliability functions for repairable or non-repairable components.
- Collecting data from the field and estimation of reliability parameters.
- Reliability Theory applied to complex systems. Block Diagrams and systems reliability.
- FMECA methodology for reliability analysis of critical systems.
- Fault Trees
- Design and maintenance planning: types of maintenance strategies
- Mathematical models for preventive maintenance
- Mathematical models for inspection maintenance
- Mathematical models for predictive maintenance
- Management of spare parts: classification of parts profile
- forecasting methods of demand for spare parts
- Inventory management of spare parts
- Innovation in maintenance: concept Systemability applied to complex systems
- Exercises and case studies throughout the course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course includes theoretical explanation and exercises with the numerical solutions and discussion of cases. The course includes presentations of managers and industrial plant visits.
